What will happen when I go for a treatment?

The first visit consists of a full personal consultation.

This takes your past and present health history and lifestyle into consideration.

The consultation enables the therapist to tailor a treatment to your specific needs.

As it is the feet which are generally treated you simply remove your socks and shoes. You will be invited to sit or lie on a comfortable treatment chair or couch.

How long will a reflexology treatment last for?

A treatment lasts for approximately one hour.

What should I do after a treatment?

To gain maximum benefit from a treatment it is advisable to rest and relax as much as possible afterwards in order to allow for the activation of the body’s natural healing abilities.

An increase in fluid intake (water preferably) is recommended as this helps flush out toxins thereby aiding the detoxifying process.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?

After one or two treatments the body may respond in various ways:

  • You may experience a sense of well-being and/or relaxation.
  • You may experience a feeling of vitality and energy.
  • You may feel lethargic
  • You may feel slightly nauseous
  • You may feel vaguely tearful.

All these sensations are transitory and normal. They are an integral part of the healing process.

It is vital to register and record these reactions as they are necessary feedback for the reflexologist in that they provide information on how your body is responding to treatment. Further, this information will assist the reflexologist in modifying a treatment plan which meet your healthcare needs.

On completion of a course of treatments (for a specific condition) people frequently find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health and well-being.
